autumn and the samurai, analogies of death

Death! The word many people never want to hear about, for some just one decibel of the word is enough is to throw them into manic depression. but why do we really fear this word when the essence it represents is the most valuable thing on earth; the main thing that makes life so interesting, so controversial, so precious, so useful, so valuable, so FLEETING.
A funny poet once said " If there's any beauty in death then it has to be in Autumn cos there is so much beauty and grace in a leaf falling to its death." The analogy is so, so true. If death could always be like autumn then i would love to die a thousand times; wouldn't you? Luckily for some they get to experience an Autumn-like death, aging gracefully and 'falling' peacefully but sadly for the rest of us, we encounter a Tsunami-like unexpected death.
Another way to die in beauty and grace is to take the samurai stance. Always death before dishonor. All those times when we go behind the people we love and hurt them we dishonor ourselves and the people we love. The Samurai understands that honor comes before personal gain, others always come self. If we would only live even if just for a day as a Samurai we would meet death with great grace and confidence because were crossing over with a clear conscience- with nothing to be ashamed of!
Let's get to work, clearing out all our petty jealousy, gossiping, backstabbing and all the things that give us a dark side and make sure our dark side is as good as our bright side. Then death will become a thing of beauty and grace.

feast 2006

In our church (W.C.G) Kaduna, Nigeria, we celebrate a festival similar to that of the ancient isrealites. We have modified it to fit our 21st century point of view; but we have managed to retain the quintessentiality of feasting together in joy, peace and harmony.
We usually have our feast at our feast ground (more like our pastor's house). friends from all overn our country come and we all live together in a sort of commune, feasting and having fun in agodly way.this year more than ever, the feast has been tailored to attract young people looking for that extra'something'.
This year the venue of the F.O.T will be home to the 1st 40 youths who register, a number we have not achieved before. There'll be a crusade (another 1st) where the youths who come can mnister to other troubled people like them . We've also included lawn tennis, table tennis and scrabble to our sports programme along side soccer, and basketball so even the sports crazy youth can enjoy the feast on his or her owen terms.
There'll be a youth gathering and hopefully a singles meet where young people can boogie down for God and enjoy themselves in a relaxed casual environment. There'll even be feeding for those who dont stay in camp (lunch that is).
What are you waiting for, register so we can have fun and re-orientate ourselves for a new year.

promiscuous girl!

Hey,
Have you the new Nelly Furtado song "Promiscuous girl" where she featured Timbaland. I'm an avid M.T.V fan so i've had more than my fair share of that video. She's got a fabulous voice so you can imagine how good that song sounds but what do you think of the lyrics. It's like basically promoting promiscuity like you can just go to any club and pick any guy that tickles your fancy and literally take him home.
If we'd just take a look around we'd see that this kind of thinking is the direct catalyst to the number of H.I.V victims and unwanted pregnancies we see all around us. Kids are brainwashed into believing that being cool requires you to act exactly like the people we see in movies and music videos. Getting pregnent or getting A.I.D.S at thirteeen is most definitely not cool, actually its very dumb. A baby at the wrong time limits the possibilites of a bright future and puts the burden on either the young mother or her parents. No teenager wants that kind of stuff troubling his/her life. so my advice to y'all. DON'T DO IT.
DONT GET PROMISCUOUS!

it's ok to unwind once in a while!

Every one nowadays is too busy doing one thing or the other to remember to unwind. This trend has found its way into the church - most especially the youths. We are always too busy rushing to that bible study or that dance class, trying to carry the world on our shoulders that we forget to take a little time to unwind, this has resulted in the explosion of young people in various stages of depression.....

We're all too busy rushing off like a band of executives to realize that we too need to unwind and keep of the stress. That's why we are giving you three tips on how to stay stress free and relaxed -

1) Just take off once in a while, no one should know where you're going. Just go off to a beach somewhere and relax

2)Learn when to say NO.

3) HANG OUT WITH PEOPLE OF LIKE MINDS AND JUST CHAT
